Cultivate Confidence
Hi Friends,
Satchie here, coming at ya with some confidence chit chat. So the last blog was all about shifting your paradigm. I hope you were able to find some insight into your habitual thoughts, moods, and actions. I didn’t have a chance to write last week because I was out there GRINDING…I got hired for two new jobs last week! One is a yoga teaching gig, the other working on the team behind one of my favorite yoga studios in Austin! Needless to say I am stoked and relieved!
This week I was reminded of something very important I learned in India. While studying The Bhagavad Gita, basically the yogi book of life, I learned about Divine qualities. I was so surprised to learn that the most important of the Divine qualities or attributes is Self Confidence or the belief that “I” can achieve anything and I am supported by God/Universe/Ishvara. I can still hear my teacher saying “if you want to achieve anything in life you must have self confidence”.
So, why am I talking about this? Well I want to be real with you. Shifting your paradigm, changing your inner world and your outer world is work. As we work to be more mindful, notice how we’ve been conditioned, and create real change, it can be scary and uncertain. Yes great things have been happening as I follow my path, but its not without moments of self doubt, anxiety, and restlessness. I constantly have to check in with my quality of mind and notice, then take the actions that I KNOW are best for me. This is part of another Divine quality, Self Mastery.
So this is a reminder to myself and to YOU, you must believe in yourself if you want to achieve anything in this life. Any time wasted wallowing in self doubt, comparison, or self deprecation is your EGO taking over the show. My favorite way to overcome my ego is service. Stop making your main focus yourself and place all your attention on someone/thing you love or someone/thing in need. Maybe your family, partner, dog, best friend, the ocean, the earth, something alive. Ask yourself how can I serve this person/thing? Most importantly try to offer your service without seeking anything in return. Make it a habit every single day to ask the Universe, how can I be of service? Offer your service without any attachment to the results and take whatever comes to you as a blessing. Try it out this week and let me know how you feel!
